Eastern Campus to Host American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk – Sunday, October 23, 2016
Suffolk County Community College, the Suffolk Community College Foundation and the American Cancer Society are working together to bring breast cancer awareness to the Long Island community. On Sunday, October 23, 2016 the Eastern Campus will be hosting the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. Approximately 4,000 individuals will walk around “Ring Road” and unite as a community to raise awareness about the steps you can take to reduce the risk of getting breast cancer.
Additionally, we are happy to announce that through this partnership the Foundation has created the first endowed “Breast Cancer Survivor’s and Caregiver’s Scholarship.” This scholarship will be awarded to a Suffolk student who is a survivor or has been a caregiver to someone impacted by breast cancer.
When communities participate in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks they are helping those currently fighting the disease, those who may have to fight it one day, and those who will avoid a diagnosis due to education and risk reduction. When it comes to breast cancer, no one should walk alone. We encourage our college community members to form a team, join a team, walk as an individual or bring a friend to the Eastern Campus. For more information or details about registering please contact Russell Malbrough at 631-451-4630.
Together we can make a difference in our community.
